Acquisition of Nybogaard and Ladehøjgaard
Mr. A. Simonsen acquired
"Nybogaard" – a pearl situated in a borough north of
Copenhagen that has everything for nature lovers, golf enthusiasts with
culture and tourist attractions.
The history of Nybogaard can be traced all the way back to 1688, and in
1795 the first ties to the shipping industry was established when Arthur
Howden from Elsinore (ship broker by profession) became the first person
to be granted a royal deed to this beautiful, elevated land overlooking
the Sound between Denmark and Sweden. Nybogaard’s ties to the industry
were re-established on 1st August 1987 when Mr. A. Simonsen
purchased both Nybogaard and Ladehøjgaard.
The history of the golf course can be traced back to 1929 when the first
golf ball was hit, in the then dried-out Ladehøj Lake.
Even though Arthur Howden was English by birth, he probably never imagined
that his land would one day become one of the most challenging golf
courses in Denmark – or that his beautiful estate would provide the
framework for such an inspiring golf environment as Simon’s Golf Club.
