Scan-Group 1969 – 2019

ESTABLISHMENT

Scan-Shipping (later Scan-Group), was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 1st 1969 by Mr. A. Simonsen at the age of 24.
It remained a one man owned company until it became a limited company in 1977. Mr. A. Simonsen is still the C.E.O. and Sole Proprietor of Scan-Group including the Shipco Transport group of companies, the Scan-Shipping group of companies, the Strait Air Transport group of companies etc. Liner agency is still one of the major activities of the Group in Scandinavia and the Baltic region.
In addition: General forwarding, Airfreight, NVOCC, Hotel & Golf are today part of the business.
The Scan-Group Headquarter for all subsidiaries and group activities remains in Copenhagen with Mr. A. Simonsen at the helm.
April 1st 2019 marks Scan-Group’s 50th anniversary. Today Scan-Group is present in over 40 countries worldwide and employs more than 3.000 staff in 156 offices.

1969 DENMARK – COPENHAGEN
Scan-Shipping was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 1st 1969

1971 DENMARK – ODENSE
The Groups First Branch office was opened on November 1st 1971 in Odense (the Island of Funen), Denmark.

1972 DENMARK – AARHUS
Further expansion took place in Denmark and the next office opened on January 1st 1972 in Aarhus.

1973 U.S.A. – NEW YORK
First own office outside Denmark. Scan-Shipping Inc. was established in New York.

1975 SWEDEN – GOTHENBURG
The first office in Sweden was opened on May 15th 1975 in Gothenburg in the name of: Shipco-Shipping AB.

1976 DENMARK – ESBJERG
The fourth office in Denmark was established on August 1st 1976 in Esbjerg.

 

NORWAY – OSLO
In order to complete the coverage in Scandinavia, Seaway-Shipping A/S was established in Oslo on December 1st 1976.

1978 SWEDEN – HELSINGBORG
The second Shipco Shipping AB office in Sweden was opened in Helsingborg on January 1st 1978.

 

SCAN-SHIPPING AIRFREIGHT WAS ESTABLISHED
The company secured the Groups first IATA license.

DENMARK – COPENHAGEN
Scan-Group takes delivery of the “Aeroe Yacht” Anne Shipco. The wooden haul yacht is the last delivery from the old historic Aereskoebing Shipyard which have built boats since early 1800’. The company boat is used for entertaining customers and visitors while cruising around the city of Copenhagen and touring the Nordic countries.

1979 SINGAPORE & SRI LANKA – SINGAPORE/COLOMBO
In 1979 Scan-Group expanded its presence into Asia. Within this year, offices were opened in Singapore (March 5th 1979) and in Colombo, Sri Lanka (August 1st 1979).

1980 PROJECT DIVISION
Handling of project cargo had been an important part of the Group’s activities from the start in 1969. A separate project division started in 1980 providing project cargo transport and logistics solutions of any nature to and from virtually any part of the world.
The services include any special transport of heavy and out of dimension cargo, chartering of vessels, and inland transportation to “job sites”.

1981 GERMANY – HAMBURG
Establishment in North Continental Europe. On January 1st 1981 Scan-Shipping G.M.B.H. was opened in Hamburg.

 

DENMARK – AALBORG
The fifth office in Denmark was established in Aalborg on August 1st 1981.

1985 FINLAND – HELSINKI
Scan-Group offices were secured in all four Nordic countries with the opening of OY Shipco-Shipping AB in Helsinki on November 21st 1985.

1987 ACQUISITION OF NYBOGAARD AND LADEHØJGAARD
Mr. A Simonsen acquired the estate of “Nybogaard”, a Manor House situated in the countryside north of Copenhagen. The history of Nybogaard can be traced all the way back to 1688 but the first ties of the estate to the shipping industry were established in 1795 when the new owner, Arthur Howden from Elsinore, British by birth and a ship broker by trade, was the first person to be granted a royal deed to this beautiful and undulated land.
On August 1st 1987 the ties to the shipping industry were once more established when Mr. A Simonsen purchased both Nybogaard and the adjoining estate of Ladehøjgaard to develop what would become one of Denmark’s most challenging golf courses. Which coincidentally, historical records show that in 1929 a golf ball was hit at the then dried out Ladehøj Lake.

1988 U.S.A. – NEW YORK
In addition to Scan-Shipping Inc. which was established in 1973 Shipco Transport Inc. was founded on June 13th 1988 in New York. Shipco Transport Inc. was established as a subsidiary of Scan-Shipping A/S, Copenhagen. Today, Shipco Transport group has become one of the world’s leading NVOCCs and consists of more than 70 offices in over 35 countries with 2.000 employees.

1989 U.S.A. – LOS ANGELES
The 2nd Shipco Transport office was opened in Long Beach, California in 1989 catering to the Trans Pacific market.

1990 U.S.A. – CHICAGO
On July 15th 1990, Shipco Transport, Chicago was established to provide a presence in the Central time zone and to offer international NVOCC services to the vast Midwest industrial and agricultural regions of the United States.

 

 

U.S.A. – HOUSTON
On July 16th 1990, Scan-Shipping Inc. established a branch office in Houston. This office was established to specifically cater for the project transportation business and general transportation in the very important U.S. Gulf Region.

1991 UNITED KINGDOM – LONDON
As the first step towards a global presence, Shipco Transport Ltd., London was established initially to handle and promote traffic between the U.S. and the U.K. eventually expanding into other markets, both for export and import.

 

DENMARK – OWN GOLF CLUB

World renowned British Golf Course Architect, Martin Hawtree designs and begins construction on the first 18 holes of the International Par 72 golf course. The design of the course implements a drainage system so efficient that it makes it possible to play on normal greens and tees all year round.

Providing golfers with the option of accommodation, Mr. A Simonsen worked to maintain the integrity of the historical and beautiful buildings at Nybogaard. The intention was to create a charming alternative to a traditional hotel, conveniently situated and overlooking the first green of Simon’s Golf Club.

1992 MALAYSIA – JOHOR BAHRU
The group’s first office in Malaysia was opened in Johor Bahru on March 1st 1992. Since then offices in Port Kelang (Kuala Lumpur) and Penang have been added.

1993 DENMARK – SIMON’S GOLF CLUB
On 24th May 1993 Simon’s Golf Club was officially opened when Masters Winner and Ryder Cup Captain, Ian Woosnam, hit the opening drive, the first step towards establishing Simon’s Golf Club as one of the most prominent in Scandinavia.

 

SINGAPORE & SRI LANKA – SINGAPORE/COLOMBO
In addition to the already existing Scan-Shipping offices in Singapore and Sri Lanka, Shipco Transport offices in Singapore and Colombo were established to provide Shipco Transport group with their own presence in Asia.

U.S.A. – CHARLESTON
As a further expansion into the southern United States and to provide an important hub for the region, Shipco Transport, Charleston was established on September 13th 1993.

1994 DENMARK – CONSULATES
Mr. A. Simonsen, Sole Proprietor of the Group, was appointed Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Singapore. The Group´s main office in Copenhagen also included the services for the Consulate of the Philippines and the Somali Democratic Republic.

 

U.S.A. – SEATTLE SHIPCO
With a growing demand for providing customer service and infrastructure in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, Shipco Transport, Seattle was established on October 1st 1994.
By establishing an Airfreight Division in the fall of 1994, Shipco Transport became multimodal and thereby able to offer the industry a full range of international transportation services.
Shipco Airfreight became authorized by IATA (CNS) in 1995. In 1996, the Airfreight Division in New
York was segregated and moved to its own facilities close to Newark Airport. Shipco Airfreight has grown to have nationwide coverage in the US.

1995 U.S.A. – MIAMI
Miami has always been recognized as the U.S. gateway to Latin America. With Shipco Transport’s expansion offering services into the Central and South American markets, presence with an own office in Miami became a necessity. On April 1st 1995, Shipco Transport, Miami opened for business.  

 

MALAYSIA – PORT KELANG (KUALA LUMPUR)
Shipco Transport Sdn. Bhd., Port Kelang, was established on April 7th 1995 to further service the growing customer base in Malaysia, and to establish a presence in the main deep sea port in Port Kelang.

U.S.A. – ATLANTA
Shipco Transport Inc., Atlanta was established on October 2nd  1995 to further enhance the coverage of southern United States and to participate in one of the fastest growing markets in the U.S.A.

DENMARK – COPENHAGEN
Shipco Transport Denmark A/S was established to cater to the growing demand for a neutral provider of NVOCC services in Denmark. The first day of business was November 1st 1995. Shipco Transport was now established in Scan-Groups “Home Port”, Copenhagen.

1996 FINLAND – HELSINKI
On March 4th 1996 OY Shipco-Shipping AB established a separate airfreight office in Helsinki to handle the ever growing airfreight activities in Finland.

 

ESTONIA – TALLINN
Scan Group enter the Baltic Region with the opening of Scan-Shipping in Tallinn, Estonia, on July 1st 1996. Main activities being Liner Agency and general forwarding.

CHINA – HONG KONG
Shipco Transport (HK) Ltd. was established on July 15th 1996, approximately one year prior to the “Hand-over” of Hong Kong. The Group experienced a rapid growth in traffic both to and from this important Asian gateway. Where other companies were leaving Hong Kong during this period, Scan-Group decided to invest in this very important region.

MALAYSIA – PENANG
With the establishment of Shipco Transport Sdn. Bhd. Penang on December 1st 1996 the coverage of Malaysia was now complete

U.S.A. – SAN FRANCISCO
With volumes growing in and out of the Bay Area of Northern California, Shipco Transport Inc., San Francisco was established on December 1st 1996 to further strengthen ties to the local business community.

1997 SWEDEN – MALMOE
On September 1st 1997 Scan-Group established a fully dedicated airfreight office in Malmoe, Sweden which enabled the group to offer all services to the Swedish customer base.

 

NETHERLANDS – ROTTERDAM
On June 1st 1997, Shipco Transport BV was established as the first Shipco Transport office on the European continent. It marked the beginning of Shipco Transport’s export services from North Europe to destinations worldwide.

U.S.A. – HOBOKEN (NEW JERSEY)
As a natural development and in cooperation with the parent company, Scan-Shipping A/S, Copenhagen and its Project Division, Shipco Transport Inc., Hoboken New Jersey established a Project/Out of Gauge Department on June 1st 1997. This new Department provided services to the existing customer base ranging from a 20’ open top container with overheight to complete turnkey projects.

1998 POLAND – GDYNIA
The second office in the Baltic Region was established in Gdynia on January 1st 1998. Scan-Group Agencies, Gdynia’s initial main activities was Liner Agency and general freight forwarding.

 

NORWAY – OSLO
A new and separate Airfreight office was established in Oslo Air Cargo Center, giving full airfreight coverage in all the Nordic countries for the Group.

CANADA – TORONTO
To continue the expansion on the North American continent and as a natural development of the overall market strategy, Shipco Transport Inc., Toronto was established on January 1st 1998 to offer the full range of neutral NVOCC services to the Canadian market.

BELGIUM – ANTWERP
With volumes growing to and from the European continent, the need for a European gateway became evident. On January 15th 1998, Shipco Transport NV was established in Antwerp providing a comprehensive gateway concept for export, servicing Shipco Transport offices in the Nordic countries, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, and exclusive agents in other European countries.

INDONESIA – JAKARTA
Originally established as a representative office, but later changed to a fully operational entity in close cooperation with long-term business associate Gesuri Lloyd, Indonesia, Shipco Transport, Jakarta, was established on September 1st 1998.

THAILAND – BANGKOK
Despite turbulent economic conditions in the South Asia region also affecting Thailand, Shipco Transport (Thailand) Ltd. was established on September 7th 1998 initially in cooperation with long-term business associate Appenship Siam Sept Group.

SINGAPORE – SINGAPORE
Scan-Group’s activities in Asia rapidly grew and the need for a fast decision making process made it necessary to establish Shipco Transport’s Asia Regional Office as a Regional Office Function on October 26th 1998.

1999 ESTONIA – TALLINN
Shipco Transport, Tallinn was established on August 15th 1999 as a coordinating office for all current activities within Shipco Transport in the Baltic region.

2000

NORDIC COUNTRIES – AIRFREIGHT
On the first day of the New Millennium January 1st 2000 all Nordic Airfreight activities were transferred to the newly established (fully owned) Strait Air Transport Group with a total of 10 offices in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

 

SWEDEN – GOTHENBURG
Further strengthening Scan-Group’s position in Scandinavia, Shipco Transport AB was opened in Gothenburg, Sweden on February 2nd 2000.

U.S.A. – NEW YORK
In order to better service its New York customer base, Shipco Airfreight opened an office at J.F. Kennedy airport on June 1st 2000. The opening of this location further strengthened the company’s airfreight presence in the United States.

2001 JAPAN – TOKYO
The Shipco Transport coverage of the Far East Region was further strengthened with the opening of Shipco Transport Japan in Tokyo on January 1st 2001.  

 

U.S.A. – BAYONNE (NEW JERSEY)
Due to the growth in business, the New York Branch moved its operation to a custom-built facility in Bayonne, New Jersey in June of 2001. Located adjacent to Shipco’s Cargo Terminal, the operations personnel are now able to physically see the cargo as it arrives, is loaded etc. The office building in Hoboken, New Jersey now house purely worldwide corporate functions for the Shipco group.

2002 CHILE – SANTIAGO
On January 1st 2002 a Shipco Transport office was established in Santiago, being Shipco Transport’s entrance to the South American Region.

 

FINLAND – HELSINKI
Oy Shipco Transport AB Finland was established in Helsinki on April 1st 2002.

 

NORWAY – OSLO
Simultaneously, on April 1st 2002 Shipco Transport AS in Oslo was opened, which means Shipco Transport is now established with own offices in all 4 Nordic Countries.

CHINA – SHANGHAI
On July 1st 2002 the first Shipco Transport office in China was established in Shanghai as a representative office.

RUSSIA – ST. PETERSBURG AND MOSCOW
On July 1st 2002 the first two Scan-Group offices were opened in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

CANADA – MONTREAL
Shipco further strengthened its position in the Canadian market with the opening of a second office in Montreal in 2002.

2003 FRANCE – AGDE & LE GRAU D`AGDE
The latest addition to the scope of activities within Scan-Group was officially launched in 2003 with Holiday Residences for letting in “the black Pearl of the Mediterranean”, Agde, which enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine per year. The Scan-Group division Strait Mediterranean has more than 24 fully owned holiday apartments for let.

 

DENMARK – SIMON´S GOLF CLUB

From 3rd – 10th August 2003, Simon’s Golf Club was honoured to hold the first ever European Tour event in Denmark, the Nordic Open. Attended by some of the golfing world’s most elite and well know players, the 30,000 spectators watched as Ian Poulter shot 66 in the final round to win the Nordic Open, with Colin Montgomerie in 2nd palce and Denmark’s own Søren Hansen in 3rd.

DENMARK – SIMON´S GOLF CLUB
The initial dialogue with planning authorities commences to start the process of a 9 hole extension to the existing Championship course. The land for the project was secured and construction of the new 9 holes started in late 2004.

2004 MANILA – PHILIPPINES
In July Shipco Transport expands into the Philippine market by establishing an office in the Philippine capital, Manila in a Joint Venture with Shipco Transports agent, PAC Atlantic.

 

POLAND – GDYNIA
Shipco Transport, Gdynia Poland opened its doors for business on November 1st 2004.

DENMARK – CONSULATES
Mr. A. Simonsen, owner of Scan Group receives the Singaporean National Day Award/public Service Star presented to him on November 3rd 2004 by the president of the Republic of Singapore Mr. S.R. Nathan at Raffles Hotel. Only a “handful” of non Singaporeans have received this great honor.

DENMARK – HOTEL NYBOGAARD
Hotel Nybogaard was expanded with an additional 10 double rooms, designed to blend in with the existing Manor House. Hotel Nybogaard can cater for all business needs from board meetings to business conferences.

2005 LATVIA & LITHUANIA – RIGA / VILNIUS
Shipco Transport expands to full coverage of the 3 Baltic States with own offices. On July 1st 2005 Shipco Transport Vilnius commences business and on August 1st 2005 the full Baltic coverage is complete with the opening of Shipco Transport, Riga.

2006 THAILAND – BANGKOK
In June 2006 Shipco Transport expands its airfreight activities to Asia, initially through opening an office in Bangkok Airport.

 

UKRAINE – ODESSA
Scan-Group enters the Black Sea market through the establishment of Shipco Transport Odessa on September 15th 2006. Shortly after Scan-Shipping Ukraine is set up.

ESTONIA – TALLINN
Scan-Group acquires a strategically located office building in Tallinn, which will house Scan Groups activities and regional office in the Baltic area.

CHINA – SHANGHAI
In December 2006 Shipco Transports representative office in Shanghai changes status into a fully operational A-Licensed entity in the Peoples’ Republic of China.

2007 DENMARK – SCAN GROUP FOOD & BEVERAGE
A new division specialized in transportation of Food & Beverage products is established in Copenhagen. The division commences its activities on August 1st 2007.

 

DENMARK – SCAN-LOGISTICS
In the summer of 2007 a specialized logistic department in Odense, Denmark start to operate under separate identity, namely as Scan-Logistics offering worldwide logistics solutions.

DENMARK – SIMON´S GOLF
In 2007 work was completed on a Martin Hawtree designed 9 hole extension to the existing Championship Course. The official opening on 21st May saw the return of both Ian Woosnam and Colin Montgomerie.
The opening drive was again hit by Ian Woosnam under the biggest banner ever made in Denmark “Woosie! Come on… show us the way”. Simon’s Golf Club members Iben Tinning and Ryder Cup player Søren Hansen played in an afternoon skins match along with other specially invited guests who had the opportunity to play alongside these golfing legends.

VIETNAM – HO CHI MINH
Scan-Group´s coverage of the Far East region is expanded to include the Socialist Republic of Vietnam through establishment of Scan-Shipping and Shipco Transport´s representative office in Ho Chi Minh.

INDONESIA – SURABAYA
Shipco Transport expands its coverage in Indonesia through establishment of its own office on March 1st 2007 in Surabaya.

2008 DENMARK – SIMON´S GOLF

 

September 2008 saw Simon’s Golf Club host another European Tour event, this time for the L.E.T. The Nykredit Masters ran from the 5th -7th September and was won by Marina Eberl’s stunning final round of 66, ahead of Iben Tinning, Melissa Reid and the “Tiger Woods of the Ladies Tour” Annika Sorenstam in what was to be her final European event prior to her retirement at the end of that year.

In 2008 work was also completed on the new Greenkeeper facilities just south of the golf course, including a state of the art workshop and newly renovated farm buildings with all modern conveniences.

U.S.A. – MIAMI

In October the Group’s first fully owned Warehouse/CFS was official opened in Miami, Florida.
Under the name of International Cargo Terminals Inc (ICT) a “state of the art” warehouse facility commenced business catering to both own Scan-Group entities as well as 3rd party customers.

Scan-Shipping, Inc expanded its presence in the U.S. with the opening of Scan-Shipping, Inc Miami on June 2nd 2008.

2009

VIETNAM – HO CHI MINH
On March 2nd Shipco Transport Vietnam Ltd was official opened.
Shipco Transport Vietnam is the first neutral NVOCC operating in the Socialite Republic of Vietnam.

SLOVENIA – KOPER
The groups first office at the Adriatic Sea, Shipco Transport Koper, commenced operation in the spring of 2009.

DENMARK – COPENHAGEN
On April 1st Scan-Shipping A/S (HQ of Scan-Group) could celebrate its 40th anniversary.
This important ‘milestone’ was duly celebrated by all Copenhagen Management & staff, headed by the Scan-Group founder and still 100% owner, A. Simonsen.

ESTONIA – TALLINN
On April 1st 2009 Strait Air Transport´s first office outside the Nordic region was opened in Tallinn, Estonia.

CHINA – SHENZHEN
Shipco Transport (Shenzhen) Ltd. commences operation on April 15th 2009. The Shenzhen market has grown rapidly during the last decade and despite the strong presence in Hong Kong it was decided to enter the Shenzhen market to further expand the Group´s commitment to the region.

U.S.A. – NEW YORK
In the fall of 2009 a “Vicem 52” was purchased as company boat in New York. The boat is built in Turkey in 2004 and the hull is constructed from cold molded mahogany and sealed with a fiberglass coating. The boat was renamed “Sean Shipco” and is used for entertaining customers and visitors while cruising the waterways of New York City and the surrounding area.

CHINA – DALIAN
October 1st 2009 saw the opening of another office for Shipco in China, namely Dalian, marking another key strategic office for Shipco Transport in this region.

U.S.A. – HOUSTON
In May Shipco Airfreight expands and opens office with the airport in Houston.
The office is located on the second floor of the cargo receiving terminal.
Being neighbour to the main airlines and literally ‘on top’ of the cargo dock provides an invaluable advantage when we are handling project cargo on behalf of our customers.

2010 SINGAPORE – AIRPORT OFFICE
On January 1st 2010 Scan-Shipping opened a second office in Singapore at Singapore’s Changi Airport.  

 

JAKARTA, INDONESIA
With Indonesia being one of the largest economies in South East Asia and anticipated to be the sixth largest economy in the world by 2030 it is decided to open Scan-Shipping Indonesia on March 1st 2010.

CHINA – HONG KONG
Scan-Shipping Hong Kong opens on April 1st 2010 and begins to develop the local market as well as the South China market.

TURKEY – ISTANBUL
May 1st 2010 saw further expansion in the Shipco Transport Group with the opening of an office in Istanbul, Turkey.

U.S.A. – ELIZABETH (NEW JERSEY)
In April International Cargo Terminals (ICT) expanded its activities and presence with the opening of a new cargo terminal facility in Elizabeth, New Jersey. ICT Elizabeth is a fully Customs bonded facility with 52 receiving doors and also houses Shipco Transports New York Branch’ operations.

CHINA – NINGBO AND QINGDAO
In order to better serve its key, global accounts, Shipco Transport opened booking offices in both Ningbo and Qingdao.

2011 VIETNAM – HAI PHONG
Expending its footprint in Vietnam, Shipco Transport opened in Hai Phong, Vietnam.  

 

CHINA – GUANGZHOU AND SHENZHEN
On June 1st 2011 Scan-Shipping opens sales offices in Guangzhou and Shenzhen to better penetrate the South China market.

U.S.A. – BOSTON
Expanding its presence on the US East Coast, Shipco Transport opened an office in Boston, Massachusetts.

CHINA – GUANGZHOU
Shipco Transport widened its coverage in China with the opening of Shipco Transport Guangzhou.

U.S.A. – HOUSTON
Houston is a big market for project-cargo especially for the oil and gas industry wherefore Scan-Shipping decided to expand its presence in America by opening an office in Houston on September 1st 2011.

RUSSIA – ST. PETERSBURG AND MOSCOW
2011 saw the opening of Shipco Transport’s first offices in the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

UNITED KINGDOM – MANCHESTER
Expanding its presence in the UK market, Shipco Transport opened a sales office in Manchester in the north of England.

GERMANY – HAMBURG
Scan-Shipping Hamburg is reactivated by moving into new office facilities and hiring of experienced staff with special expertise within the project-cargo segment.

IRELAND – DUBLIN
November 1st 2011 saw the opening of Shipco Transport in Dublin.

U.A.E. – DUBAI
Scan-Shipping JLT & Shipco Transport JLT were both incorporated as fully owned subsidiaries in the Jumeirah Lake Towers free zone in Dubai. Operations commenced in early 2012.

2012 THAILAND – LAEM CHABANG
Building on its Thailand activities, Shipco Transport opened its Laem Chabang office on April 1st 2012.

 

U.A.E. – DUBAI
Scan-Shipping JLT open their first office in Middle East in April 1st 2012 in Dubai’s the Free Trade Zone.

JAPAN – OSAKA
Shipco Transport opened its second office in Japan, in the city of Osaka, on April 1st 2012.

CHINA – SHANGHAI
On April 1st 2012 Scan-Shipping opened own office in Shanghai.

CHINA – XIAMEN
Given the importance of China in terms of world trade, Shipco Transport opened an office in Xiamen in the southern part of the country.

INDONESIA – LAMPUNG
On May 1st 2012 Scan-Shipping opens office in Lampung. This is the second office in Indonesia and the main focus is on sales within the Sumatra area.

UKRAINE – KIEV
Scan-Shipping enters the Ukrainian market by opening its first office in Kiev, Ukraine on April 1st 2012. On June 1st 2012 Shipco Transport opened it Kiev, its second office in Ukraine.

SRI LANKA – COLOMBO
Re-opening of Scan-Shipping in Colombo on November 1st 2012.

CHINA – GUANGZHOU
With the initiation of airfreight operations in Guangzhou, Shipco Airfreight is now covering the China market with four dedicated airfreight offices.


DENMARK – AALBORG
To strengthen the “Food & Beverage” division, established in 2007, Scan-Shipping enter into an entirely new segment, namely liquid road transportation in food graded tank transports. Main commodities are wine, fruit pulp, fish oil, vegetable fat etc. and thereby providing a competitive edge to the F&B department.

2013

U.S.A. – LOS ANGELES
In January the third International Cargo Terminals (ICT) facility opened in Long Beach, California.

RUSSIA – NOVOROSSIYSK
To continue the growth and expansion in the Russian market it was decided to activate Scan-Shipping in Novorossiysk on January 1st 2013. With this addition Scan-Shipping can offer logistics solutions via the important Black Sea gateway.  

AMERICAS – CANADA AND CHILE
Shipco Airfreight expands its American activities to include Canada and Chile with airfreight operations in Toronto and Santiago respectively.

U.S.A. – NEW YORK
In September 2013 Shipco Transport Inc. marked its 25th anniversary with a celebration in New Jersey.

VIETNAM – DA NANG AND HANOI
Complementing its existing operation in Ho Chi Minh, Shipco Transport opened additional two offices in Da Nang and Hanoi, Vietnam.

PAKISTAN – KARACHI, FAISALABAD, LAHORE AND SIALKOT
Shipco Transport expanded its cooperation with long-time partner General Maritime, with the opening of a franchise operation in Karachi, Pakistan. Branch offices are located in Faisalabad, Lahore and Sialkot.

SOUTH KOREA – SEOUL
Shipco Transport enters into a joint venture with their long standing agent, MTM Freight in Korea and Shipco Transport Korea commences operation on April 15th 2013.

U.S.A. – NEW YORK
A strategic decision is made on May 1st 2013, to open an Aid & Relief Division within Scan-Shipping’s New York office as a stand-alone business unit, focusing solely on Aid and Relief cargo.

DENMARK – SIMON’S GOLF CLUB

On 24th May 2013 Simon’s Golf Club celebrated its 20th Anniversary. More than 250 members and business associates attended a fantastic dinner party and golf tournament to commemorate this wonderful milestone.

RUSSIA – VLADIVOSTOK
As with Novorossiysk, a strategic decision to strengthen and support the coverage in East Russia is made and Scan-Shipping opens in Vladivostok. With the office in Far East Russia, Scan-Shipping are now strategically located in all the major Russian gateways and have a sales office in Moscow.

NEW ZEALAND – AUCKLAND
Shipco Transport and Profreight Auckland enter into a joint venture agreement and operations commences on June 1st 2013.

DENMARK – AARHUS & COPENHAGEN
Scan-Shipping in Aarhus and Copenhagen takes a big leap forward by investing in additional 12 staff with experience within road transportation and warehouse logistics and renting 4,500 square meter warehouse in Copenhagen Freeport.

ROMANIA – BUCHAREST
Shipco Transport expanded with the opening of a new fully operational office in the capital city Bucharest, Romania on September 1st 2013

TAIWAN – TAIPEI
After many years of working with an exclusive agent, Shipco Transport opened its own office in Taiwan on August 1st 2013.

 

2014 NEW ZEALAND – AUCKLAND
In February 2014 Shipco Airfreight commence operation in Auckland, New Zealand, bringing the total number of airfreight offices to 29.

 

 

CHINA – CHONGQING
Effective April 1st 2014, Shipco Transport expanded in West China with the opening of Shipco Transport Chongqing.

DENMARK – SIMON’S GOLF CLUB

In January 2014 Mr. A Simonsen acquired the beautiful lake Agersø and its accompanying little house adjacent to the golf course.

2015

U.S.A. – CHATHAM

Shipco Transport’s Global Corporate Headquarters is established in Chatham, NJ on January 12th.

INDIA – MUMBAI & PUNE

In March 2015, Shipco IT is officially established in Mumbai and Pune, India.

MALAYSIA –  IPOH & PASIR GUDANG

Shipco Malaysia is expanded to a total of 4 offices in March with the opening of Ipoh and Pasir Gudang.

INDONESIA – SEMARANG

Shipco is expanded in May with a 3rd office in Semarang.

PHILIPPINES – CEBU

Shipco’s new branch in Cebu joined the existing business in Manila on September 24th.

TURKEY – IZMIR

Shipco Izmir is established on October 8th to assist the existing office in Istanbul and offer superior coverage to the Turkey.

2016

CHINA – QINGDAO

Kicking off the year with a new addition, Air Import and Export operations commenced in a new Shipco Airfreight location on January 1st 2016.

NEW ZEALAND – AUCKLAND

The 4th International Cargo Terminals (ICT) facility opened Auckland, New Zealand in April.

BULGARIA – SOFIA

A new location in Sofia, officially opened on May 9th 2016. The office in Sofia was a natural step for Shipco Europe’s continued growth in the Balkan area. 

 

2017

CANADA – VANCOUVER

On May 22nd 2017 Shipco Transport opened a new operations office dedicated to better sering customerns in the Vancouver area.

U.S.A. – ATLANTA

In September International Cargo Terminals (ICT) further expanded its activities and presence in the USA with the opening of a cargo terminal facility in Atlanta, Georgia. ICT Atlanta is a fully Customs bonded facility with 36 receiving doors and also houses Shipco Transports, Atlanta offices. The location is very convenient close to Atlanta (Hartsfield) Airport and to major rail-terminals and interstate highways.

2019

DENMARK – SIMON’S GOLF CLUB

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Simon’s Golf Club the Staysure Tour event Shipco Masters was held from 1st – 3rd June 2018. The event saw the return of many familiar faces from the past 25 years including Ian Woosnam, Colin Montgomerie, Dame Laura Davies and Steen Tinning, there were also some new faces such as José María Olazábel and Clark Dennis. The week of celebrations included Pro-Am and Alliance tournaments, music, parties and entertainment. The 3 day Shipco Masters tournament was won by Colin Montgomerie followed by Paul Eales and Barry Lane.

 

KOREA – BUSAN

In March International Cargo Terminals (ICT) expanded its footprint activities with the opening of a CFS facility in Busan, South Korea adding a presence in Asia  serving both Shipco offices and customers, as well as its own direct accounts.
